FIERI Boston's Private Reserve
by Rina Crugnale

On September 17, 2000, the Mellea Winery in Dudley, MA held it's "I Love Lucy Grape Stomping Contest". The winery is run by the Compagnone Family and this is one of their annual events.

It was FIERI Boston's 4th year attending and we had just as much fun as always. A group of 14 FIERI friends and members met at the winery on a perfect, crisp, sunny Fall afternoon. This year we were also joined by Billie Nieri and Lynn, our friends from the budding Southern Connecticut chapter. Alessandra Morelli and Maria Maffeo gave us a good challenge but in the end new member David Baldassare and I were the self-declared Champions for the year 2000!! Our reigning 1999 Champs Sandra Ventresca and Giovanni DeDona, were unavailable to compete this year due to last minute preparations for their wedding on October 1st.

The new Mr. & Mrs. Dedona have vowed to compete in 2001 and win back the title. We look forward to next year's competition -- may the best feet win!
